The mother of a young man killed in cold blood said she is confident Donegal Gardai will catch his killers.Andrew Allen 2

Andy Allen was gunned down at his rented home in Buncrana in February.

Although two people were arrested in connection with the brutal murder, nobody has ever been charged with the killing.

Andy, 24, died when gunmen sprayed the bedroom of his house at Links View Park with bullets.

His girlfriend, who was also in the house at the time, miraculously escaped being injured.

The Republican Action Against Drugs group later claimed they carried out the killing saying Mr Allen was a drug-dealer.

However his mother Donna Smyth has denied the claims.

“He was no angel. But he was not a drug dealer. And I am very angry that they are using that as an excuse.

“We know why he was killed. We know it was personal,” she said.

Mrs Smyth said she was happy with the investigation being carried out by a team of detectives at Buncrana Garda station.

“I am very hopeful that progress will be made,” she said.
