A young couple took the plunge for the second time in just 24 hours today.cwp062NewYearDip_MarbleHill

But Fiona and Brian Garvin didn’t have a wedding cake, wedding cars or 300 guests the second time.

Instead the Co Donegal couple plunged into the freezing waters of the Atlantic Ocean for the annual New Year’s swim at Marble Hill.

Brian looked like he was coming straight from his wedding reception in a stunning black tuxedo.

However he revealed that he had actually bought the cheaper suit version off the rail in ASDA!

And although Fiona (nee Duggan), who comes from nearby Creeslough, looked stunning, her white dress was also only for the occasion over her swimsuit.

Fiona and Brian joined up to 500 other hearty souls including family and friends and also golfer Paul McGinley who looked on but didn’t take the plunge.cwp160NewYearDip_MarbleHill

One onlooker said “It looked freezing but it was one of the biggest crowds I’ve ever seen at the swim in Marble Hill.

“Brian and Fiona were great fun and really added to the craic.”
