BREAKING NEWS: A major rescue operation has been launched after a climber became stuck on Slieve League.DONEGAL MOUNTAIN RESCUE

The climber has been stranded hundreds of metres down the cliff-face at Carrick for more than three hours.

Both the Donegal Mountain Rescue team and the Killybegs Coast Guard are taking part in the operation to rescue the climber.

Members of the Sligo/Leitrim Mountain Rescue Team are also on the way to the scene.

It is understood the injured man, who hurt his knee, is a 28 year old. He is stuck 150 metres from the bottom of the cliff.

The Sligo-based rescue helicopter was on the scene earlier but had to leave because of poor weather conditions.

The climber had made his way three-quarters of the way down the cliff when he was injured. He raised the alarm at lunchtime after making a call from his mobile phone.
