The 96 year old was punched and robbed of a substantial amount of cash at her Aghilly home on Saturday morning last.

Gardai are still carrying out a full investigation into finding those responsible for the disgusting attack.

Now Cllr Ciaran McLaughlin has teamed up with staff at Buncrana Credit Union to set up a fund for Ms Lilly.

The frail pensioner was saving to have windows put into her home when she was burgled and robbed of what is believed to have been a four figure sum.

The account will remain open at Buncrana Credit Union for one month from this Thursday.Cllr Ciaran McLaughlin

People can simply walk of the street and donate money to the fund.

“I was going to go out on the streets with a bucket and I know I would have received great support from the people of Buncrana.

“But this way people can donate how much they want and when they want. The staff in Buncrana Credit Union have been great,” Cllr McLaughlin aid.

Meanwhile Ms Lilly remains in hospital at Letterkenny General for observation.
