Frail Greta Lilly was only released from Letterkenny General Hospital today following her ordeal in the early hours of Saturday morning last.

She was robbed and punched in the ribs by an intruder who broke into her home and gagged her before robbing a substantial amount of money.

The incident has led to a public outcry both locally and at national level.

The man was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act on Tuesday evening following a Garda operation at Burt.

He was brought to Buncrana Garda station where he was released earlier this evening.

A spokesman for the Garda Press Office said a file on the incident is to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecution.
