SNOW has returned to Donegal tonight, falling at lower levels than in recent days.

A heavy snowfall has moved down through the county and has covered roads in Fanad, Milford, Ramelton and Kilmacrennan areas.

It has also started snowing heavily in and around Letterkenny, with forecasters saying it will move west in the next few hours.

Temperatures in the county are set to fall as low as -5C overnight.

Donegal County Council staff are once again working through the night to keep main routes open.
