MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH BURGLARY OF PENSIONER RELEASED ON BAIL

A 20 year old Letterkenny man charged in connection with the burglary of a pensioner has been freed on bail.

Matthew Lafferty, with an address at Ballykeeran, Kilmacrennan but originally from Letterkenny appeared in handcuffs at Letterkenny District Court this morning.

He appeared following the robbery of a 69 year old woman in Kilmacrennan last Friday morning.

The case had been adjourned from Sligo District Court where Lafferty was charged with causing crimimnal damage and breaking and entering.

The Gardai agreed to bail but stressed they wanted strict bail conditions applied.

He has to keep a curfew of 10pm to 8am and must also sign on daily at Milford Garda station.

He is to remain sober and must not interfere with any witnesses in the case.

The case has been adjourned until March 11th for hearing.
