DONEGAL PEACE III PARTNERSHIP PARTICIPATES IN BRUSSELS CONFERENCE

Peace III in Brussels

Donegal County Council was invited by the Special EU Programmes Body to showcase a range of projects funded under the PEACE III Programme through the Donegal Peace & Reconciliation Partnership which is led by the Council.

This conference which was organised by the European Commission in conjunction with the Special EU Programmes Body focused on how the PEACE Programme is “Bringing Divided Communities Together”.

The conference was addressed by a number of key note speakers including the European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Johannes Hahn and the Northern Ireland First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin Mc Guinness.

Running in parallel with the conference was an exhibition of PEACE III funded projects hosted by the Office of the Northern Ireland Executive in Brussels.

Donegal County Council, as lead Partner of the Donegal CDB Peace & Reconciliation Partnership and represented by Ms. JoAnne Kilmartin and Ms. Anne Mc Elchar were invited to highlight some of the innovative projects funded under the PEACE III Programme in Donegal, providing an insight on the work accomplished locally and the impact that this work has on people’s lives in the County.
