The emergency services at the scene of the crash at Kirkstown

BREAKING NEWS: The emergency services are at the scene of a crash in Letterkenny in which five people have been hurt.

The accident happened just before 10.30pm in the Kirkstown area.

Only one car was involved in the crash.

It is understood the car struck a local bridge close to a crossroads at a local forestry leading to the Glencar area.

There are current two fire brigades, three ambulances and Gardai at the scene of the collision.

It is not known if any of the casualties have serious injuries.

An eye-witness told Donegal Daily that they emergency services were on the scene rapidly.

“There is a lot of activity down there. We are hearing that there are five people injured. We don’t know how bad it is yet.

“We don’t know how it happened but the road has been blocked off to traffic while the emergency services try to sort out the situation,” he said.
