Finn Harps and FAI Cup winners Derry City will battle it out for the JJ Reid Motors trophy at Finn Park this Sunday.Finn Harps

The encounter will be Harps’ last fixture before the competitive action gets underway seven days later. Kick-off at Finn Park on Sunday is 2.30pm.

This is the third time that the two clubs will play for the JJ Reid Motors trophy. Two years ago, Harps claimed the spoils when they beat the Candystripes 4-2 on penalties after a scoreless draw at Finn Park.

Last season, Derry were the victors on a 3-0 scoreline at the Brandywell but an improving Harps side could prove a stern test for their neighbours.

For Peter Hutton, this will be the final chance to run the rule over his squad ahead of the new season which kicks off on Sunday week with a trip to play the Mayo League in the first round of the EA Sports League Cup.

The league campaign begins on Friday 8th March with a trip to Waterford United before back-to-back home games against Cobh Ramblers and Longford Town.

Harps have had a decent pre-season and are unbeaten in the nine fixtures played to date (7 wins and 2 draws) and include notable away results which seen them win in Dundalk and draw with League Champions Sligo Rovers.

Admission on Sunday is €7 with kids under-12 gaining free admission. A four page teamsheet has also been produced for the game and will be on sale for 50 cent.
