THIS is Jason Quigley just minutes after being crowned Irish Elite Boxing Champion!
The Finn Valley boxing stalwart is the 75kg champion after a stunning victory over Roy Sheahan at the National Stadium in Dublin tonight.
Cheered on by a huge crowd of supporters from Donegal, Jason was cheered on throughout his gruelling bout.
But despite being the underdog with some of the bookies, the Co Donegal man is on his way home this weekend with the Irish Championship belt.
“I’m over the moon,” said Jason afterwards.
“It was a very hard fight but I’m just delighted to have won this title. It means so much.”
It was third time lucky for Jason, who lost two previous finals. He easily won this one though on a score of 15-6.
Illies Boxer Willie McLaughlin fell just short in his bid to beat Adam Nolan.
Nolan dominated the first two rounds before McLaughlin came out fighting but it wasn’t enough to dethrone Champion and Olympian Nolan.
Fight report on McLaughlin is here:
Joe Ward claimed his third Irish senior title at light heavyweight on the trot with a comprehensive 25-5 win over Kenny Egan at The National Stadium.
The latter announced his retirement after the bout.
