A man will appear in court today charged with an alleged assault in Letterkenny during which a doorman was seriously injured.
The man was arrested and questioned at Letterkenny Garda station yesterday.
It followed an incident during which a local doorman received a serious eye injury during an altercation.
The incident happened outside the Central Bar on the town’s Main Street just after 11pm.
A man was arrested close-by on suspicion of being involved in the incident.
He will appear before Letterkenny District Court this morning charged with a Section 3 assault.
The doorman was rushed to Letterkenny General Hospital for treatment to his eye but was later discharged.
It is understood the man will require further hospital treatment.
Gardai say they are carrying out a full investigation into the alleged incident.
