STRANORLAR MAN TURNED OFF CAR LIGHTS WHEN APPROACHED BY GARDAI

A man who turned off his car lights when approached by Gardai told them he didn’t know why he was behind the wheel.gavel1

John Gamble, of 67 Admiran Park, Stranorlar, appeared before Letterkenny District Court today charged with drunk-driving and careless driving.

The court was told that the 45 year old was at a party with his wife and had left it.

He had suffered from extreme back pain for a long time and got such a pain while at the party.

He decided to get into his van while in pain after leaving the party, the court was told.

He said he didn’t know why he deiced to get into his van.

Judge Paul Kelly fined Gamble €250 for drinking-driving and disqualified him from driving for three years.

He struck the charge of caress driving out.

Mr Gamble’s solicitor asked for her client’s driving ban not to start until August as his wife did not drive.

“Perhaps she might considering learning,” added Judge Kelly.
