EXCLUSIVE: A romantic St Valentine’s gesture by a big-hearted husband has earned his family a chance to win a small fortune.
Martin Hughes pushed out the boat and included chocolates and a €6 lotto quick pick in wife June’s valentine’s card.
And the romantic risk paid off as the Donegal mum-of-four is now set to appear on RTE’s Winning Streak tomorrow night.
June, from Ballybun, Castlefinn, won a scratch card with her quick pick and managed to get three stars which she sent off to the National Lottery headquarters.
Last Saturday night her name was drawn live on television.
“I couldn’t believe it but I was delighted. It couldn’t come at a better time for us.
“Martin is romantic but I never thought that a St Valentine’s Day card could lead to all this,” she said.
June will be joined by family and friends including the couple’s four children Dean, 8, Lauren, 7, Coran, 5, and Kayleigh, 2 in the RTE studios tomorrow night.
June said it would be a dream-come-through to spin the wheel on the big money show but she already has plans for any money she wins.
“If we win a decent amount I would love to get a People Carrier for the family.
“It’s very difficult wit the four kids going anywhere and a seven seater will make our lives so much easier.
“Martin hasn’t asked for anything just yet because he doesn’t want to jinx me,” laughed June.
