Finn Harps got their competitive campaign off to a solid start with a 4-1 win against the Mayo League in the League Cup this afternoon.
A scrappy first half exploded into life in the second as Harps turned the screw on the home side at Milebush Park in Castlebar.
Mayo’s cause wasn’t helped when their goalkeeper was sent of for a last man challenge on Michael Funston who was through on goal.
Goals by Matt Harkin, James Doherty, Mark Brolly and Tommy McBride gave Harps a comfortable victory.
There will be tougher tests ahead but Peter Hutton will be happy with how his side performed – especially in the second half.
