DANNY ‘BOY’ IS STILL A KNOCKOUT AT 40!

One of Donegal’s best-known sportsmen is 40 not out today.

Father or son? Danny with eldest son Kian.

Father or son? Danny with eldest son Keane.

He may be celebrating four decades but Danny ‘Boy’ Ryan certainly lives up to his name.

The well-known and much-loved Raphoe man has been an icon for young people for a number of years now.

A former Irish senior middleweight champion, Danny also enjoyed a successful professional career before hanging up his gloves.

Danny, who now lives in Letterkenny with wife Maria (Herrity) and family, later trained to become a psychiatric nurse.

He now gives much of his free time into helping causes around the county including training boxers for the Lord of the Rings series.

Danny still trains young people at Raphoe ABC along with his father Brendan and good friend Peter O’Donnell.

Rumour has it that Danny has a very large cake with a lot of candles on it to blow out tonight.

No wonder he’s down the gym doing a bit of training!

Danny’s eldest son Keane also celebrates his 19th birthday today after being born on Danny’s 21st!

Happy birthday from all your friends at Donegal Daily lads!
