COUNTDOWN IS ON TO THIS YEAR’S BEO FINAL

The countdown is well and truly on to the final of this year’s BEO competition at the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny.BEO poster

Now in just its second year, BEO has become the coolest local bands competition on the North West and Ireland!

Six schools from around the country are vying for the €10,000 prize package including a first prize of €5,000.

Among the judges and special guests will be 2FM’s Paddy McKenna, Jackie Hayden formerly of Hot Press, Kathleen Coughlin of Donegal County Council and Mary O’Hagan from the Matt Cooper Show on Today FM.

On the day schools will make a presentation to the judges, there will be an open mic session at 2pm for budding talent to be headline by Limerick group Cairde Snathaida, an Irish rap group.

An address by Donegal VEC CEO Shaun Purcell will then take place followed by a Ceile Mor with special guest Paddy McKenna form 2FM.

There will then be a major act starting at 7pm with opening act AIlish Carr from Carrick CVS followed by Overhead The Albatross and then BEO favourites Wonder Villians from Derry.

The schools in the final include Pobalscoil na Rosann,
Coláiste na Carraige,
Scoil na mBráithre, Phádraig
Scoil Pol,
Coláiste na Trócaire,
St Columba’s College.

The winners will be announced just after 9pm.
