Is Ballybofey butcher Shane McConnell Ireland’s friendliest purveyor of fine meats?
Well that’s certainly what more than 700 people who have voted for him think!
And one of them – Tommy Bonner – wants you to add to the votes so far in a competition by food company Goodalls.
So here’s what Tommy thinks…….
“My dear friend and local established purveyor of quality meat products, Shane McConnell has been short-listed in the competition to become ‘ The Friendliest Butcher in Ireland ’. I will put his case case forward as briefly as possible….
I recall Shane who even as a teenager, when grumpiness would have been the norm, always greeted his parents’ customers with good humour. From his running of the business I have heard many reports of his openness and willingness to accommodate all the customers who enter his premises. People constantly refer to his positive greeting, helpful manner and genuine interest in their needs.
Not only that but tales of his considerate nature have served to enhance his good reputation. He once sent a birthday present from Australia to a customer’s daughter who had just turned four. Furthermore, I know for a fact that he goes out of his way to help and oblige customers who, due to physical disability or advancing years, find discomfort in getting to his shop and having to wait around.
He is an incredibly bright and pleasant young man who possesses an abundance of original ideas in both the sale and promotion of his product.
