CO LIMERICK TOWN’S BID TO WRECK GLENTIES LEPRECHAUN WORLD RECORD BID

Last St Patrick's Day in Glenties...

Last St Patrick’s Day in Glenties…

LAST year the Co Cork town of Bantry wrecked Glenties bid to set a new world record for having the most number of people dressed as leprechauns.

Now a village in Co Limerick is going for the record – and hoping to wreck Donegal dreams again!

Leprechauns of all shapes and sizes will invade Castleconnell in Co. Limerick this St Patrick’s Day in a bid to beat Bantry’s record of 1,263…and beat Glenties.

Organisers of the parade are hoping to set a world record for the most leprechauns in the one place.

The current record is held by Bandon in County Cork where 1,263 leprechauns attended their St Patrick’s Day parade last year – that was 200 more than Glenties.

Tonight one of the Co Donegal organisers Carmel Doherty issued an SOS to would-be leprechauns to turn out in force, set a new record and beat those Limerick wreckers!

And they’ve slashed the prices of the outfits in a bid to win

“We have 1000 extra costumes made so we wont’ be outdone this year, so the BREAKING NEWS is that all adult costumes are now 5 euro and all children under 18 their outfits are free, this is to ensure we get all outfits used,” said Carmel.

On St Patrick’s Day you collect your outfit on main street from 12 noon to 1 pm. Things to remember Black shoes, black trousers and white long sleeved top/shirt. Also everybody has to pay 2 euro registration to be part of the record attempt.
