DD LOCAL – MEVAGH RESOURCE CENTRE NOTES, DOWNINGS

School Holiday Activity – Children’s Arts and Crafts, Mevagh Family Resource Centre will run arts and crafts sessions for children during Holy week. Details are: Tuesday 26th March from 10:30 am until 12:00 noon for 5 to 7 year olds and Wednesday 27th March from 10.30 am until 12:00 noon for 8 to 12 year olds. Booking is essential and activities will only run with sufficient numbers. For further details, please contact the centre on 9155055 or text 087 9228944.

Mevagh Men’s Group – usual meeting on Tuesday 26th March at 8:00 pm in the Resource Centre. Facilitator: Noel McBride.

Craft Group meet every Thursday at the Resource Centre from 10.30 am until 12.00 noon.

Rambles around Ros Goill – Mevagh Family Resource Centre are holding a fundraising 5k & 10k walk on Good Friday, 29th March beginning at the centre. Registration at 10am for 10:30am start. Sponsorship forms are available. Refreshments served afterwards at the centre. The walk is open to everyone from hill walkers to ramblers, teens to toddlers. No dogs are allowed on walks. Mevagh Family Resource Centre will be closed on Good Friday, 29th March and on Easter Monday, 1st April.

Yoga for Beginners – Help reduce stress and tension, create a sense of well being and calm and improve muscle tone, flexibility, strength and stamina. A six-week course will commence in the Mevagh Family Resource Centre, Downings on Thursday 4th April at 7pm. Cost is €40. Contact Helen on 087 0545744 to reserve your place. Classes for Children and Senior Citizens to follow.

Moving Mevagh Forward propose to produce a map of an area encompassing the parish of Mevagh. It would include such items as tourist attractions, things to do, things to see, places to go and of course the many and varied tourist facilities in the area. If you would like your establishment or attraction listed on map, email your interest to mevaghramblers@gmail.com.

Féile Carraig Arts & Culture – Would you like to facilitate a workshop or event at féile carraig arts & culture 2013? We are currently programming events for this years Festival & are looking for some new ideas and upcoming talent to showcase! Visual art, literature, dance, music or drama or any cultural activities e.g. crafts, baking, history. Email feilecarraigarts@gmail.com or contact Anna on 0877698653.

Library Service – Members of Taobh Tíre, our rural library service, can order books from Donegal County Library that can then be collected in Mevagh Resource Centre’s Library. The Centre has a computer that provides access to an online catalogue of books, videos, CDs, DVDs and audio books. Membership is free and 6 books can be taken out at a time for 6 weeks. To become a member please call in to Mevagh family Resource Centre with proof of your address (i.e. drivers licence or utility bill).

Information Fair on Education, Training and Jobs, taking place at the Gateway Hotel on Wednesday, March 20th from 10:30 am until 2:30pm. There will be a wide range of organisations and colleges in attendance and it’s a great opportunity for people to get a flavour of what’s on offer and be able to have a chat with the different providers.
