IRELAND’S women rugby heroes arrived back in Dublin on Monday night – to scenes of celebration.

More than 300 people were at the arrivals hall of Dublin Airport as Donegal ladies Larissa Muldoon and Nora Stapleton arrived back with the 6Nations trophy after their weekend victory over Italy.

Team captain Fiona Coghlan beamed: “I didn’t expect that many people at all. It’s kind of humbling.

“To be honest I think the whole nation has been behind us in this campaign so it has been brilliant.”

She praised the dedication of her team-mates – including Nora from Fahan and Larissa from Capprty.

“You ask them to do anything and they do it in spades. The organisation and commitment of the girls during the week and in the lead up to games and getting themselves back recovered again after games while going into work is just testament to them, testament to our squad,” she said.
