EVERY great snapper has been out and about in north Donegal on recent nights, waiting for a break in the clouds to see the Northern Lights.
And just look what photographer Martina Gardiner found – a night sky at Dunaff Head in Inishowen lit up by a kaleidoscope of colours dazzling the eyes.
It’s just the latest display which has had tourists flocking to the county in the past 12 months hoping to catch a glimpse of the Aurora phenomena which can normally only be seen further north in Scandanavia and the Arctic.
Said Martina: “It was a bit of a waiting game at Dunaff Head but eventually the rain stopped, clouds parted and the sky lit up with another fantastic aurora show.
“It was incredible.”
Experts say clearer skies later in the week may be another opportunity to see the Northern Lights.
