COUNTY senior star Patrick McBrearty hit 0-7 as Donegal cruised to a six-point win over Tyrone in Omagh this evening in the Cadbury U-21 Ulster Football Championship.
Donegal will now play Derry in the semi-finals.
Stiofán Tierney hit the Red Hands’ goal 26 minutes into the first half as they trailed by 0-8 to 1-3 at the break.
But Donegal finished strongly and Tyrone had Richard Donnelly sent off in injury time at the end of the match.
Elsewhere Derry had a big win over Antrim in Casement Park, with Aaron Devlin (2) and Ryan Duggan hitting first half goals as the Oak Leafers led by 3-3 to 0-5 at the break. Owen Gallagher hit back with a goal for the home side in the second half, but Derry settled the outcome when Chris Spiers added their fourth late in the game.
At the Athletic Grounds, Down enjoyed a three-point win over Armagh. The Mourne men led by 0-7 to 0-1 at the break and were six clear in the closing stages when Aiden Forker grabbed a consolation goal for Armagh.
There was plenty of drama in the final game of the night as Cavan saw off Monaghan’s challenge after extra-time. With the sides locked at 1-9 apiece at the end of normal time, Cavan powered ahead in extra-time to set up a semi-final meeting with Down on April 3.
