dd newsTHE snow hasn’t arrived….yet.

But overnight storms in Donegal has brought power cuts to homes in many areas.

Winds gusting to 100km/hr are continuing this morning.

Forecasters insist snow is on the way.

Ulster will begin to see heavy snow at times mid-day intensifying this evening and overnight, some accumulations of 20-40 cm on higher terrain, 10-25 cm with some mixing on lower terrain … this snow could extend south during Saturday to cover parts of Leinster and inland Connacht but amounts there closer to 5-10 cm,” says Peter O’Donnell from Irish Weather Online.

“Strong E-SE winds gusting to 80 km/hr in exposed locations now confined mostly to east and north Ulster will abate mid-day. We are giving an advanced alert for significant cold and isolated heavy snowfalls Sunday to mid-week.”

Many homes in Gaoth Dobhair, Falcarragh, Creeslough and the Rosses are without power.

There are also faults in Clonmany and in Ballyshannon and Bundoran.
