MAN WHO ‘ATTACKED VICTIM WITH HURLEY STICK’ REMANDED IN CUSTODY

A man is to appear in court again charged with assault during which the victim was allegedly struck with a hurley stick.

Matthew Lafferty is already in custody in connection with a number of other alleged offences.

Lafferty, 20, of Ballykeeran, Kilmacrennan, appeared at Letterkenny District Court today.

Garda Inspector Michael Harrison told the court that Lafferty had been involved in an incident during which the victim sustained a broken collarbone as well as cuts and bruises.

It was claimed that a hurley stick was used by Lafferty during the incident.

He also faces charges in connection with an incident during which a 69 year old pensioner was robbed at her home in Kilmacrennan recently.

Lafferty had been on bail but his bail was revoked when he broke the bail conditions.

He has been on remand in jail for a number of weeks.

He will appear again in court on April 22nd.
