DD LOCAL – MEVAGH RESOURCE CENTRE, DOWNINGS NOTES

Rambles around Ros Goill – Mevagh Family Resource Centre are holding a fundraising 5k & 10k walk on Good Friday, 29th March beginning at the centre. Registration at 10am for 10:30am start. Sponsorship forms are available. Refreshments served afterwards at the centre. The walk is open to everyone from hill walkers to ramblers, teens to toddlers. No dogs are allowed on walks. Mevagh Family Resource Centre will be closed on Good Friday, 29th March and on Easter Monday, 1st April.

Mevagh Men’s Group – usual meeting on Tuesday 2 April at 8:00 pm in the Resource Centre.

Craft Group meet every Thursday at the Resource Centre from 10.30 am until 12.00 noon.

Mevagh Busy Bees – Parent, baby and toddler group will be meeting on Friday 5th April from 10am -12 noon in the Mevagh Family Resource Centre. So bring along your busy bees for some fun and games. The cost is €3 per family.

Big Fish Little Fish – for 1st year students at Secondary School, a follow on review of the year so far will be taking place in Mevagh Family Resource Centre on Wednesday 3rd April from 1pm to 4pm. This will be an enjoyable afternoon with fun and games.

Yoga for Beginners – Help reduce stress and tension, create a sense of well being and calm and improve muscle tone, flexibility, strength and stamina. A six-week course will commence in the Mevagh Family Resource Centre, Downings on Thursday 4th April at 7pm. Cost is €40. Contact Helen on 087 0545744 to reserve your place. Classes for Children and Senior Citizens to follow.

Cookery on a Budget – eating healthily doesn’t have to put a dent in your budget. Attend our cookery classes presented by four different local chefs and learn how to make nutritious meals without breaking the bank. Classes commence on 9th April and will run for four Tuesday mornings from 10:30 am until 12 noon. Cost for the four sessions is €20. This course is part-funded by Co. Donegal V.E.C.

Occupational First Aid – In conjunction with FÁS it is proposed to run a FETAC Level 5 accredited Occupational First Aid course in the Mevagh Family Resource Centre commencing on Wednesday 10th April from 7:00 – 10:00 pm. This course will run for 8 weeks. Cost is €180 with concessions for people in receipt of benefits.

Art Classes will begin in Mevagh Family Resource Centre on week beginning 15th April. These classes will be part-funded by Co. Donegal VEC. For further information or to book your place please call Veronica on 074 9155006.

Féile Carraig Arts & Culture welcome you to an afternoon of music, dancing and craic at their Tráthnóna Airneál on Easter Sunday 31st March at Teach John Mickey Ban’s (Hugo Boyles) from 2-7.30 pm. Bring along your own musical instruments to join in! Light refreshments will be served and all Donations are in aid of Fèile Carraig Arts & Culture 2013.
