St Eunan's GAA logoST Eunan’s GAA club has received the backing of the GAA in its boundary dispute with Letterkenny Gaels, it was announced tonight.

It brings to an end the proposal by the Gaels which would have divided the town.

The Gaels had insisted they cannot grow without exclusive access to players in the parish of Aughaninshin part of the town declared as their club’s catchment area.

The clubs in the county voted to back the Gaels, but this was overturned by the Ulster Council which backed Eunan’s.

However the GAA’s Dispute Resolution Authority has ruled that the town should not be divided.

St Eunan’s insisted there was an agreement with the Gaels when the latter club was founded that there would be no division in the parishes of the town.

The DRA had already overseen three hearings on the matter and has now ruled to keep the situation as it is – allowing players and members to choose which club they wish to join.
