Thank you from “Playmatters”

“PLAYMATTERS” is a resource which is currently being developed at The Rosses CDP building in Dungloe. The aim of PLAYMATTERS is to provide a safe suitable environment where parents/carers can engage in quality play activities together with their children throughout the week whilst simultaneously accessing information and support from their peers and child care professionals in relation to their children. The service is currently in its infancy but already engages with over 30 families regularly through its Monday morning group “The ArT BoX”. “PLAYMATTERS” would like to thank everyone who helped out and/or took part in its recent fundraisers which raised a total of €347.00. This money will be used to develop the resource. If you have young children and are about the town between 10 – 12 on Mondays please feel free to drop into the ArT BoX for a bit of fun and a cup of tea. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

St Patricks Day Fundraising in Burtonport

The St Patricks Day celebrations in Burtonport – which was organised by a group of local ladies: Roslyn Sharkey from Cruit, Maria Ferry from Tullyillion & Kathleen Boyle, Jackie Nicholas, Donna Dawson and Breege Ward from Keadue, managed to raise a total of €3800 after all outstanding bills for the day have been paid. The committee are therefore delighted to be able to present both the Burtonport Festival Committee and The Local Lifeboat Committee with cheques of €1900 each.

The celebration which goes from strength to strength each year have taken place annually this past eight years and has been supported by both the entire Rosses business community and by ordinary community members alike. This year the crowds were entertained by the local Keadue and Crickamore bands, by two traditional bands “Cundy & Crew” & “Trad Na Nog” , two schools of Irish Dance – Mc Nellis Cunningham/Eilish Boyle & Claire Gallagher schools of dance and the children from Acres national school.

The committee would like to sincerely thank everyone for their continued support and hope that it continues in the years ahead

The Old Railway Walk – Easter fundraising

“Thank you” to everyone who helped out in any small or large way to make our Easter fundraiser such a success. Despite very cold weather we had a great turnout for both the walk/run and the hunt. Over the weekend we raised a total of €533 Euro. This money will be used to continue with the work plan currently being undertaken by the committee. For regular updates, events and various maps of the walk please link into our facebook page “Burtonport Old Railway Walk. Siuloid An Sean Bhothar Iariann”. Thank you all very much.

Tir Chonaill Rugby Club

Thank you to everyone who supported our recent fundraiser by purchasing lines for a beautiful Easter cake baked by Mary Grace Harley. The cake was won by a member of the Sharkey family @Mace Dungloe and raised a total of €530 for the club. Thank you. The club have training sessions every Saturday morning @10 0 clock for u8s, u10s and u12s and @11 for u13s. There is also a senior section to the club and details can be found on facebook at “Tir Chonaill RFC”. There are only a few training sessions left this season but if you or your child are interested in joining the club next season come on down and watch a training session where any of the coaches available will be happy to talk to you.
