GAA BALLUnder 14 division 2 section 2

Malin 5-06 Carndonagh 3-12

Malin and Carn played out an exciting high scoring draw this evening in Connolly Park which probably was the fair result. Carn got off to a great start with Conor O’Donnell, who had an excellent game in midfield, opening the scoring. The visitors rattled the crossbar minutes later with a fierce shot by Nathan Harkin, but the same player made up for it with two points shortly after. Malin who were playing against the wind in the first half got on the mark with a Daniel Houghton point on ten minutes. Carndonagh responded with points from Fergal Gallagher, two more from O’Donnell and a Fionn McClure score. Christoper Doherty knocked over a free and Malin trailed by seven. This spurred Malin into life and they got three goals and a point within five minutes. Andrew McDaid rattled in after the keeper spilled the ball and Sean O’Neill pointed shortly after. Malin got a fortunate goal from the kickout when Jack McLaughlin scored over the keepers head. Joseph Doherty Paddy Mor scored another goal shortly after as the Malin boys took the lead. Carn came back late in the half with a Nathan Harkin score and another free from Conor O’Donnell. Half time score Malin 3-02 Carndonagh 0-10. Carn opened the scoring in the first half with O’Donnell scoring a free. Jack McLaughlin and Sean O’Neill replied with points for Malin and then O’Neill then scored a great goal shortly after as Malin pulled away. Carndonagh then had a great spell in the game with Kieran Farren scoring a goal and Nathan Harkin also scoring a goal from way out on the right. Fergal Gallagher also tagged on a point in this period for Carn to level the game. Carn edged ahead with a Nathan Harkin score but Jack Mc Laughlin replied in style with a long range point from way out on the left. Sean O’Neill scored his second goal of the night to put Malin ahead going into the last five minutes but Carn to their credit kept going and equalised with a Conor O’Donnell goal late on and despite Malin pushing for a winner Carn held out and the game ended square.
