Locals concerns regarding domestic waste dumping, littering and vandalism at one of Gaoth Dobhair’s main tourism spots, Port Arthur beach.

The area has been blighted with an assortment of litter including mattresses, tiles and beer cans.

Well-known local community activist Aodan O Gallchoir said “It’s disappointing to see so little respect being shown to our beautiful area. I’m not going to point fingers by saying who did it because I just don’t know, no one knows.

“Our aim now, as we are coming into the summer months that we get this cleared before it gets out of hand. Rubbish such as this will be cleaned up for gaoth Dobhair to maintain its pristine reputation of cleanliness which I am extremely proud of.”

Locals said they were now calling on Donegal County Council to clean up the area or face losing tourists throughout the summer months.
