DSC_3122SOCIALIST TD Joe Higgins will be in Co Donegal this week to address anti-austerity campaigners.

The Cloch Cheann Fhaola branch of the Campaign Against Home and Water Taxes have organised the meeting at Ostan Loch Altan in Gortahork at 8pm this Friday.

“Deputy Higgins has been the strongest opponent of this Government’s failed austerity policies over a number of years,” said Owen Curran from the campaign.

“He has been correct on this from the start as our un-employment and emigration figures show and indeed the IMF now agree that austerity is not working.

“Joe Higgins will outline in Gortahork on Friday why the Property Tax has nothing to do with local services and everything to do with paying off the gambling debts of failed developers and speculators.”

Brian ‘ Boyle a Sligo based lecturer, political activist and TUI member will also speak.

“Brian will explain how and why all the struggles ,whether in health, education ,against these unjust taxes must be linked up,” said Curran

“We in the CAHWT ClochCheannFhaola are pleased to have two such high profile people come to speak in Gortahork for us,it underlines that the fight against austerity is being built state wide, and that a movement that is prepared to fight on issues that affect ordinary working people is beginning to take shape.”
