DONEGAL’S FIRST SWALLOWS ARRIVE

It has taken them a while but reports of Donegal’s first swallows arriving in the county are now coming in.Only two out of every 100 swallows will survive

The tiny birds have been spotted in Letterkenny, Lifford and Kilmacrennan.

The birds were due to arrive a number of weeks ago but because of the cold weather, they delayed their journeys.

Niall Hatch of Birdwatch Ireland says the birds will begin to arrive in higher numbers across Donegal in the coming days.

The birds will nest over the summer months in garages, barns and on gables and will leave again in September and October.
