DONEGAL’S winning streak continued on RTE’s Winning Streak this weekend – as TWO players from the county bagged a small fortune on the show.

Cranford man Michael Harkin, an 83-year-old former Donegal County Council truck driver, is €41,800 better off after his daughter stood in for him on the show.

And Burnfoot woman Celia Hannigan came home with €36,800

There had been some confusion over which Michael Harkin from Cranford had won the right to be on this weekend’s show.

But it turned out to Michael Snr.

Daughter Margaret Shiels, a paramedic based at Letterkenny General Hospital, played for her dad.

And she won €11,800 plus a €30,000 Opel Insignia.

She admitted that out of ten brothers and sisters, just she and brother Brian had been willing to put their names into a hat to see who would play for dad Michael.

Celia, a part-time hairdresser, works at the Beechill and Nazareth House nursing homes in Fahan.

The mother of four won her prize in cash.
