PADDY McNally is officially Donegal’s richest person.
He was the highest placed Donegal person in the Sunday Times rich list 2013 published yesterday.
In fact Paddy is so wealthy he came in as Ireland’s 17th richest person, having made his fortune in Formula One advertising and properties in Britain and Switzerland. He is also placed in 209th place in terms of wealth in Britain and Ireland.
The 74-year-old former racing driver one dated Sarah Ferguson, the British Royal.
He is estimated to be worth €517,000,000! (that’s €517 Million!)
Gaoth Dobhair singer Enya Ni Bhraonain singer was valued at €102M, having sold 70 million albums worldwide. The valuation placed her 88th in Ireland.
But someone else from the arts isn’t doing too badly either – Riverdance founder Moya Doherty and her husband John McColgan were valued at €75M, placing them at 121 in the top 250.
Donegal man Tim Kelly isn’t far behind in 124th place.
Based in Harrow, England, where he runs his Kelly Group telecommunications company, he is estimated by the newspaper to be worth €73.
In joint 174th place is Vera McHugh who inherited a fortune from her husband Kevin in 2006. He was the owner of Atlantic Dawn, Ireland’s biggest fishing trawler. The Sunday Times says she’s worth €56M.
In joint 215th place is Philip O’Doherty who owns E&I Engineering in Burnfoot. He was estimated to be worth €45M.
