Bord na nÓg: The Bord na nÓg meeting for April will take place next Tuesday at 8pm in the clubhouse.

Parish Gaelic Football League: Buncrana GAA has launched the 2013 Parish Gaelic Football League for 3rd/4th class pupils, to commence on Friday 19th April with a ‘Get to know you/Sports Day’ at 3.30pm. Boys and Girls of all levels of ability are welcome . The league games will take place on Friday 19th April, Thursday 2nd May, Friday 10th May and the finals will be held on Friday 17th May. Games will finish each day at 4:30pm. Support your Parish schools – Support Buncrana GAA. For further details please contact Declan on 0870916662.

Senior and Reserve Football: The senior sides face Glenfin on Sunday afternoon. Following an opening five minutes in which Glenfin were allowed to scored 3 goals, it was always an uphill battle for Buncrana. Points by Odhran Doherty, and two points and a goal by young full forward John Campbell kept Buncrana in the game, going in at half time down by 5 points. The margin could have been less if Buncrana had converted an earlier penalty, awarded for a foul on Darach O’Connor.

Buncrana continued to battle in the second half, however Glenfin were able to hold on to their lead an eventually won by 5 points. Despite the result, a positive for Buncrana is that 6 minors lined out for the Senior team. Next up for Buncrana will be Dungloe on Sunday 28th April at the Scarvey.

Senior Ladies Football: Buncrana senior ladies played their first home match of the league on Sunday 21st against Red Hughs of Killygordon. In what has a very heated affair, the girls kept their wits about them and pulled off a fantastic comeback to secure a draw. Red Hughs started the much stronger of the two teams and had a good first half display. However Buncrana were never intimidated and kept battling. Buncrana went in at the half-time interval down by 10 points.

The second half saw a much rejuvenated Buncrana squad come out all guns blazing and finally showed Red Hughs what they are made of. The girls fought hard for every ball and every point to secure the draw by the time the final whistle was blown. Even though the ladies got off to a rather slow start, they banded together and put in some great individual displays, with the likes of Michelle Browne, Dede Grant, Lauren Hegarty and Caroline Gallagher commanding their areas of the pitch, but it was the overall work-rate of the entire squad that earned them the draw in the end. Training continues on Monday from 8.15pm and Wednesday from 7.30pm in The Scarvey.

Girls Football: Girls football training is on Monday night at 7.00pm sharp. Open to all girls from the ages of 9 to 16 years of age. New players are also welcome. Please bring your own water bottle.
