Property developers are battling it out to open the first Daniel O’Donnell Guesthouse after the singer’s childhood home was put on the market recently.

At least six serious buyers have now emerged looking to snap-up the €400,000 house in Kincasslagh.

And estate agent Gavin Boyle says that two of the speculators are looking to cash in on Daniel’s fame by lending his name to the property.

“We have six serious enquiries and two of those are looking at the possibility of turning it into a Daniel O’Donnell Guesthouse of sorts.

“The house comes with all the furniture which Daniel put into it. It could be a great draw for the millions of Daniel fans around the world to base themselves in when they visit.

“We already have the Daniel O’Donnell Visitor’s Centre and this could be the perfect place for fans to stay,” he said.Daniel2

The house, which has six bedrooms, is currently home to Daniel’s mum Julia, his sister Kathleen and her family.

But the family decided to put the house on the market because it simply became too big for them.

Estate agent Gavin admits he has been swamped with calls from people simply wanting to get a looking around the house.

“I have my own way of vetting them and you can usually tell if people are serious or they are just fans wanting to look around Daniel’s original home.

“It’s not fair on the family who are still living there but there are six serious enquiries.

“We will be showing those people the home from the end of the month and hopefully we will have a buyer after that,” he said.

The house was the originally home where Daniel hosted his annual tea parties which attracted thousands of fans from around the globe.
