LUXURY ‘NO FLY’ CRUISE TO PORTUGAL AND SPAIN DIRECT FROM DONEGAL

Beautiful Lisbon

Beautiful Lisbon

You won’t even have to make a trek to the Airport for a cruise this year, in fact you will be picked up by luxury coach in most parts of Ireland.

Donegal based Travel Company JMG Travel and Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines have joined forces yet again to offer a 10-night exclusive cruise to Portugal, Spain & Gibraltar, departing from Dublin port in September 2013.

Family-owned JMG Travel is the tour operating division of well known Donegal transport company McGinley Coach Travel and started to charter and offer cruise holidays in 2011.

Fred. Olsen’s 880-guest cruise ship, Boudicca, is a modestly-sized, traditional style ship, with an excellent range of facilities and a friendly and relaxed onboard atmosphere. The ship and its crew offer a welcoming ‘home for home’ aboard that will appeal to Irish holidaymakers.

The attractive itinerary begins with a relaxing cruise from Dublin on the evening of 13th September 2013, and a leisurely two days at sea; guests onboard have time to settle in and explore the ship, joining in with the many activities, watching live entertainment, or enjoying onboard lectures.

The live entertainment will offer a great mix of music, comedy and cabaret, including some traditional Irish entertainment and music from Irish bands such as the Brose Walsh Band and Johnny Mullens.

The first port of call is Lisbon, the attractive and compact Portuguese capital. Spread over seven hills on the north of the River Tagus, it offers a delightful mix of palaces, churches and art nouveau cafés, gardens and castles to delight the visitor.

After a pleasant day here, Boudicca cruises on to Portimăo, in southern Portugal, at the heart of the popular Algarve. This is a famous fishing port, with pretty streets and gardens to explore, where fresh-caught sardines are grilled and served in the many street cafés.

The next port of call is the great seaport of Cadiz in Spain. Set on a peninsula, almost surrounded by water, Cadiz was an important trading port from the times of the Phoenicians.

It has a Moorish old town, with cobbled streets and white-washed houses, a fine cathedral and several excellent museums. The next port is Gibraltar, with its towering Rock; a tour here is a fascinating experience, taking visitors right to the top of the Rock to explore the stunning caves and meet the infamous Barbary Apes.

It is also a great place for duty free shopping, or you can take a boat trip out to sea looking for dolphins.

Another relaxing day at sea follows, then Boudicca reaches another great Spanish port; Vigo in Galicia. Also known as the ‘city of olives’ Vigo is set in one of Iberia’s most beautiful landscapes.

It was originally a Roman port (its name comes from the Latin ‘Vicus’), and has a picturesque old town and spacious squares, with pleasant cafés and bars. A final day at sea brings Boudicca back to Dublin, where she docks in the early morning.

Prices for this attractive cruise start from €1,184 per person, based on two adults sharing an inside, twin cabin, Grade ‘I. The price includes the en-suite accommodation, all meals on board, entertainment, including talks and lectures, port taxes and all gratuities; it also includes the coach transfers provided to and from Dublin by McGinley Coach Travel.
