The Donegal Volunteer Centre will be holding an information session on Garda Vetting at their offices on Port Road Letterkenny on Tuesday the 21st of May at 6.30pm.

Groups are getting ready for Garda vetting

John Curran the Manager of Donegal Volunteer Centre and the Garda Vetting Authorised Signatory for Co Donegal said now is the time for groups to get ready for Garda vetting.

“The Garda Vetting Bill that is currently being considered by the Oireachtas will once enacted, have a considerable impact on how the community sector engages with young people and vulnerable adults. Now is the time for groups to prepare the ground work to ensure that their services are not impacted when vetting becomes mandatory.”

The aim of the session will be to clarify the process, procedures and indeed myths around Garda Vetting.

The Donegal Volunteer Centre processes in excess of three hundred Garda Vetting applications annually and works with groups in establishing the policies and procedures to ensure that both the groups and the volunteers are supported through the vetting process.

The Garda Vetting session will be one of a range of activities held across Donegal to mark National Volunteer Week, which aims to celebrate and acknowledge volunteers across Donegal. For more information or to book a place at this event contact Caroline Jahn of Donegal Volunteer Centre on caroline@volunteerdonegal.ie or 074 9126740.
