Gardai are investigating the rape of a man who was picked up by a person he thought was a taxi-driver.

Lights out for Glenties District

Gardai are investigating rape claims

The man was collected in Derry last week while out socialising and asked to be driven to his home via Heather Road in the city.

The man, who was coming from a party, was picked up by a driver who was parked alongside a taxi rank.

Instead the man was driven to Inch Island in Donegal where he claims he was subjected to an horrific ordeal.

The man, who is in his 20s, claims he was raped by a man for more than an hour.

His attacker, who was described as stocky and bald, then drove the man back to Derry and dropped him off close to his home.

The attacker is described as approximately 5’6” and was driving a silver car, possibly a Vauxhaull.

Gardai have appealed for information and have asked anyone with any information to contact Buncrana Garda Station on 07493 20540.
