FAMILIES DEMAND ACTION AFTER FLOOD WATERS SWEEP SEWAGE TOWARDS THEIR HOMES

DD LOGO 2DONEGAL County Council says it will investigate the floods which took place in Inishowen during the weekend downpours.

There was one very close call for four famillies in the Burnfoot area when water and raw sewage mixed with water flooding from the Burnfoot river at the back of their homes during Saturday night’s heavy rainfall.

After the water subsided the residents were faced with the horror of raw sewage spread all over their gardens and inside their sheds causing damage to the oil boilers, children’s toys, and other items.

They say communication with the council to rectify this ongoing situation has led to frustration as the council have failed to respond since Saturday with any assurance of a permanent solution to the ongoing flooding situations.

The council says engineers will examine what happened.
