A CO Donegal man charged with killing four British soldiers who died in an IRA bomb attack in Hyde Park, London, in 1982 will appear at the Old Bailey today for his latest legal hearing.
John Anthony Downey, 61, is accused of planting the bomb which killed the British soldiers.
He is originally from Clare but had been living in Creeslough for more than 30 years. He was arrested while going on holidays.
The explosion killed four members of the Royal Household Cavalry as they travelled from their barracks to Buckingham Palace.
He was arrested at Gatwick Airport on Sunday and appeared in court earlier this week before being remanded in custody.
Mr Downey had been working on peace projects since the end of the conflict in the North.
Today human rights lawyer Gareth Peirce, pictured, will represent him at the hearing at the Old Bailey in London where she is expected to apply for bail for her client.
Sinn Fein has accused the British intelligence services of attempting to damage the peace process by bringing the case.
If convicted Mr Downey would serve less than two years under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement.
