Senator Jimmy Harte has met with Housing Minister Jan O’Sullivan TD in relation to progressing a new retrofitting programme for local authority housing.Labour's Jimmy Harte

He believes that a new scheme is necessary and he has pushed that one be introduced by this Government.

He said “I recently met with Minister O’Sullivan and argued very strongly that she should consider a new retrofit scheme to insulate local authority houses.

“I have met with many families who could really do with this work on their houses and I have demonstrated this to Minister O’Sullivan. Such a scheme will help many families, elderly individuals and couples to live in a warmer, more comfortable home.

“It would also create thousands of jobs and help stimulate business in towns across the country. Following on from our discussion I am confident that Minister O’Sullivan will consider such a scheme into the future.”
