A search has been launched for a woman who has been missing for up to 48 hours.search

The woman, who is in her 60s, is from the St Mary’s Terrace area of Ramelton.

Locals have been searching for the missing woman woman but it is understood a more co-ordinated search is currently being organised.

Gardai are also studying CCTV footage in the Ramelton area amidst reports that the woman may have got on a bus.

The woman is understood to be the mother of three grown-up children.

There is some confusion as to when the woman was last seen.

However her relatives are very concerned about her safety.

Locals in the area have been walking the banks of the River Lennon and are due to extend the search out on the outer reaches of the town this evening.

One local said “Everyone is very concerned about her safety. We don’t know when she went missing or how long she is gone but it is well over a day since she was last seen.

“She never told any of her family she was going anywhere and there is understandable concern.”
