Letterkenny Golf Club Ladies Notes
Last week’s competition, sponsored by Mourne Antiques, was won by Anne Cannon with 35 points, Vera Kearney with 34 points was runner up and Maureen Haran was 3rd with 33 points. Well played ladies.
In team news, our Intermediate team, captained by Vera Kearney, had a great win against Dunfanaghy Golf Club. The next round of the Miele campaign will be played on Sunday 9th June and is also against Dunfanaghy ladies. Good luck to the team.
The Centenary celebrations commenced on Friday last with the Past Captains competition. This annual celebration is a popular event when Lady Captains, spanning over sixty years, gather to play golf and enjoy a dinner and presentations. Mary Murray and Peggy Forde both won nines, Angela Kilgallen was third, Tracy Spence was second but the winner of the Centenary Past Lady Captain’s prize was Eileen Keating. In a separate scramble competition on Friday, Mary Fowley, Anna Diffley and Breege McDonagh were the winning ladies team. There was an 18 hole Centenary weekend re-entry competition run over Saturday and Sunday and this was won by Triona Daly with 39 points. Anne Condon was second with 37 points and Bridget McClafferty came 3rd with 32 points. Marian O’Sullivan and Peggy Forde each won a nine. Congratulations to all Centenary winners and well done to all those involved with the weekend celebration arrangements – it was a great tribute to all those members who are no longer with us but who were part of bringing Letterkenny Golf Club to where it is today. Many thanks to all those ground staff and volunteers who have done so much work with the course, tee boxes, bridges, clubhouse and surrounds – excellent work.
The Defibrillator Fund has nearly hit its target of 250 used mobile phones but a last push will get us there. Please take a look around your house for old phones and leave them in the collection box in the Clubhouse.
