BREAKING NEWS: Two teenagers have been hospitalised after falling out of a tree after a freak accident on Arranmore Island.
The two boys, aged 15 and 16, were rushed to Letterkenny General Hospital last night.
One of the boys suffered a back injury and the other boy suffered a broken leg.
The boys were transferred from the island by the RNLI lifeboat who took them to the pier in Burtonport where an ambulance was waiting to take them to Letterkenny General Hospital.
It is understood the boys were climbing a tree when a branch snapped and the boys fell more than 20ft to the ground.
A spokesman on the island praised the quick response from the local lifeboat service.
“The lads were on the scene very quickly and waiting to take the boys to the mainland.
“As far as we can tell this was just a freak accident and the branch gave way beneath the lads. Hopefully the injuries are not too severe and the boys will be okay,” he said.
