PENSIONER DIES AFTER COUNTY DONEGAL ROAD CRASH

AMBULANCESA PENSIONER has died after a road traffic crash on the Barnesmore Gap.

The driver of the car, a man in his 70s, was pronounced dead at Letterkenny General Hospital a short time later.

The male driver was also taken to Letterkenny General.

The pensioner driving the camper van is in a serious but condition and the female in the car in which the man died is stable.

Ambulance crews were on the scene very quickly and took all three people to Letterkenny General Hospital for treatment.

There have been widespread tailbacks in the area this afternoon as a result of the collision.

Gardai are diverting traffic around the accident scene.

A Garda spokesman said: “The roadway at the scene of the incident is closed and a Garda investigation has begun.”
