Donegal Music Education Partnership is pleased to announce an upcoming exhibition of multimedia works by the transition year students of St. Catherine’s Vocational School, Killybegs, and Carrick Vocational School, Carrick.
Over a number of months during transition year students from both schools – in Killybegs and Carrick – undertook workshops in film-making, stop-motion animation and soundtrack production.
As well as getting fantastic hands-on experience in the world of digital media, students produced several short documentary films, animated films and original music to accompany them, and also carried out peer-to-peer interviews over the course of the project.
The project was facilitated by Jeremy Howard, a Letterkenny-based Film and Digital Media co-ordinator, documentary film-maker and soundtrack composer with an M.A. in soundtrack production.
Assisting him on the project was Charlie Doherty, a third-level film studies student who has directed a number of music videos for local band ‘In Their Thousands’.
CONNECT, CREATE, COMMUNICATE is a Peace III Projects funded project, managed by the DMEP on behalf of Donegal VEC. The project aims to increase cultural awareness and diversity, by engaging participants in cross-community activity through the media of film and music.
The Film Screening and Exhibition Launch take place this Saturday 15th June in the Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny at 2pm. Project participants will be in attendance on the day.
