steven lynchA SECOND high profile personality at Highland Radio also quit the station just days before Charlie Collins, it has emerged.

Steven Lynch left the station two weeks ago – but most fans of the popular DJ didn’t know until Collins left on Monday.

Lynch has been fielding messages on his Facebook page.

It has also emerged that Kevin Collins, a son of Charlie’s, left the station earlier this year after 14 years with the Letterkenny-based station.

Fears are growing that more people may quit in coming weeks over differences with the station’s Galway-based owners.

“Morale is very low,” admitted one insider at the station.

“People were gutted when Steven left and Charlie leaving on Monday has made things a lot worse. Who knows what will happen next? There could be more resignations or redundancies. It’s not looking good.”

Steven posted a special ‘thank you’ on his Facebook page to listeners who contacted him

“It’s been a sad day but it was brightened by all the kindness you have shown,” he wrote.

“To Packie Keeney for always being a great friend, nothing is too much trouble for Packie. Thanks also to the rest of the staff at Highland, a great gang to work with and I’ve cemented many friendships in the 9 years I’ve worked there, which I know will last a lifetime. Hopefully it will not be too long into the future before I find another job in radio & we’ll do it all over again.”

Fans responded with messages of support, one writing: “Highland dead without you now.”

Others vented their fury at the station, leaving various angry messages.
