Congratulations to Sean McVeigh, Colm Flood, Conor McVeigh, Kevin Meehan, Adie Gaffey and Ray Durack on bringing the Nicky Rackard Cup back to Donegal. Sean scored a stunning goal in Croke Park that he will be able to cherish for years to come.
The Seniors have qualified for the quarter-finals of this year’s Championship after a comprehensive win over Cloughaneely on Sunday. They were wearing their new Shopping Centre sponsored jerseys and they looked really well. They travel to Kilcar this Sunday for a “star” fixture in the league looking to consolidate their position at the top of the table.
The Reserves also advanced in their championship after a good victory in Falcarragh and they will also travel to Kilcar on Sunday, throw-in is at 1:30pm.
The Juniors suffered their first defeat in this year’s league v MacCumhaills and they travel to Ardara this Saturday evening with a 7:30pm throw-in.
The U14 boys were disappointingly forced to field without several players in the Northern final on Saturday and had only 16 players available but went down by just two points to a team they had beaten comprehensively in the League final (3-14 to 1-07) with a full team.
They take on Bundoran in the League semi-final next Monday (17th) in Donegal Town at 7:15pm. The winner of that game will play in the League Final on the Friday night (21st). They will also take on N. Padraig, Muff in a championship play-off with the date tbc but it could possibly be on Monday, June 24th before the lads head to Féile on the 28th. The Div. 2 boys had a good win in the championship v Malin away and will now take on neighbours Glenswilly at home this Friday, June 14th at 7:15pm.
The U12’s travelled to Gaoth Dobhair on Monday for Go Games and played very well, they are at home this Monday (17th) against St. Michael’s. The U11’s hosted Glenfin for some very entertaining games and they travel to face Red Hugh’s next Monday.
The U8’s are also in Killygordon this Saturday for Go Games, at 11am for both 2005 and 2006 age groups. Parents are asked to bring kids to Killygordon. Contact Peter Curran on 086-3852973 to confirm attendance.
The Girls U-12s have training at Illistrin on Wednesday at 4.45pm.
The Girls U-14s travelled to Steelstown GFC in Derry on Monday for a challenge match and put in a solid performance. A word of thanks to hosts Steelstown for their warm welcome. The team travels to Convoy on Thursday for their next league game. Parents who can offer a lift and players will leave Tobin’s at 5.30pm. Throw-in is at 6.30pm.
