St Macartan’s. Division 2 County Champions

THIS week in O’Donnell park Letterkenny, Bundoran primary school St Macartan’s won their 2nd County final in three years.

The seasiders first played Moville and from the outset showed their intent. An early lead of two goals scored by Rachel Currid scored in the first two minutes allowed the Bundoran team relax sooner and they went on to win comfortably. 3-5 – to 0-1.

Their second game was a tighter affair against Glenswilly primary school.

It was Glenswilly who took the lead with an early goal against the run of play. Bundoran seemed edgy but soon found their shooting feet after a Rachel McGee point.

The Glenswilly team continued to keep Bundoran backs busy but due to excellent work from full backs Anna Gavigan, Yasmin McKee, Rhona McEniff and goalkeeper Aoise McHenry, the defended everything Glenswilly through at them. Forwards Megan McEniff, Dervala Carr and others worked hard in the forward line and at the final whistle the score stood at 2-6 to 2-0 in favour of Bundoran.

Glenswilly were runners-up.
